Long Block for Caterpillar 3512C HD Marine Auxiliary engine
Diesel Power Holland was approached by a marine customer regarding a stalled vessel. The ship sailing in the waters of Africa had problems with their Caterpillar engine.
The vessel was equipped with a Caterpillar 3512C HD Marine Auxiliary Engine. To save valuable time without compromising the quality and reliability of the application, our technical specialists came to the conclusion, together with the customer, that building a so-called Long Block was the smartest and most appropriate solution. Engine prefix is E3Y with arrangementnumber 320-2278.
A Long Block is not a complete engine but usually contains the core parts of the engine. By replacing or reconditioning these parts, the external components of the existing engine can be reused. Not only does this save costs, it also significantly reduces the turnaround time of the repair. Our customer was therefore satisfied with the solution offered and commissioned us to get to work on the long block.
We replaced all bearings and adjusted all valves and injectors. Of course we made sure that the engine was delivered in Cat Yellow and built in accordance with the Caterpillar standards, using both new and remanufactured parts. The engine was built under classification society approval. Thanks to this solution, the customer was able to sail out again quickly!
